- PURPOSE: Comparisons of Stereopsis, Contrast Sensitivity and Near Point of Accommodation in different grades of Myopia with Emmetropia. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional comparative study with random sampling was conducted in Tertiary Eye Hospital in Maharashtra on all the staff and patients from Eye Hospital between the age of 15 to 30 years. Patients with strabismus, anisometropia, all kind of ophthalmic surgery, any ocular diseases and any H/O systemic conditions were excluded. The workup include objective and subjective refraction eye examination with slit lamp after that stereopsis, contrast sensitivity and near point of accommodation is measured. The statistical analysis was done by MS excel and IBM SPSS software version 20. RESULTS: The total of 109 subjects (56 emmetropes, 40 were mild myopes, 9 were moderate myopes and 4 were severe myopes) evaluated and there is no change in contrast sensitivity compared to emmetropes and myopes while it shows there is statically significant difference in the stereoacuity and near point of accommodation with in the different grade of myopes compared to the emmetrope. CONCLUSION: On the basis of this result, we can suggest the optometrist or eye health care professional to do checkup of stereopsis and near point of accommodation even after full optical correction for management option for severe myopic patients to get optimal stereopsis and near point of accommodation and also go for vision therapy if required because Vision Therapy is the best treatment Accommodative and binocular vision anomalies.
